In recent years, wallpaper has experienced a renaissance as a popular wall covering. This rediscovery can be attributed to several factors. On the one hand, wallpapers offer a wide range of design options. On the other hand, the introduction of new carrier materials, such as fleece, has helped to make wallpaper easier to process and easier to renovate. Nowadays, the market offers a variety of types of wallpaper, which differ according to their carrier material (such as paper or non-woven) and their decorative layer (e.g. paper pattern, vinyl or structure).
The Stucco Lustro, a polished glossy stucco, is a lime plastering technique in which, after applying the base plaster and a fresh lime mortar as an intermediate plaster layer, thin layers of lime are applied wet in wet. The surface of Stucco Lustro is polished to a high shine with wax or (Venetian) soap and can also be sealed with linseed oil. A heated stainless steel trowel or other smoothing tool is used to smooth until a dense, smooth and shiny surface is created.
This creates a surface structure that can be compared to that of polished marble in terms of strength, smoothness and shine.
The name Kerlite refers to a series of porcelain stoneware slabs that are manufactured using a special rolling and pressing process. The 3 mm thin panels measuring up to 100 x 300 cm are durable. The name Slimtech is also often used for very thin ceramic tiles and plates. Depending on their thickness, Kerlite panels can be used for floors or walls in private spaces, indoors or outdoors. There is a suitable version for areas with high levels of moisture such as showers, steam baths or similar. By selecting the appropriate format, hardly any joints are created.
There are hardly any limits to the color wall design. Paints, brushed plasters, glazes and decorative plasters, which can be divided into three categories: Fully covering coatings are paints and highly pigmented brushable plasters. Glazes and weakly pigmented brush plasters produce a transparent, cloudy effect because they are only slightly pigmented. Depending on the desired effect, the application can be done with a glaze brush, sponge, glove or wall roller. Decorative, colored filler plasters are applied with a trowel as they are viscous when processed. All three forms of decorative coatings are available in different qualities and systems. Paints based on lime, clay or natural resin have become established.
